The Arizona Legislature provides many internship opportunities for qualified applicants, including our Legislative Internship, Senate Broadcast Internship and the Legal Internship. Check out our programs below and discover which one is right for you!
Legislative Internship
Purpose of Internship
The Legislative Internship provides a unique paid opportunity for qualifying students to earn university credit while gaining valuable professional work experience. Students who are selected to participate in the program assist elected officials and their professional staff at the Arizona Senate or House of Representatives during the regular session of the Arizona State Legislature, which runs from January through May of each year.
Candidates completing this application may also be selected to work with the Governor's Office or with the Supreme Court.
Eligibility
Candidates for a Bachelors or Masters degree must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher at the time of application that is earned at the candidate’s current university. Additionally, candidates must have at least 75 hours at the end of the fall semester prior to the next legislative session.

Legislative Broadcast Internship
(Arizona Capitol Television)
Description of Position
The Arizona Legislative Broadcast Internship offers qualified students a rare
opportunity to learn about the legislative process, produce daily video coverage
of legislative proceedings, and produce feature video segments for cable television.
Eligibility
Candidates for a Bachelors degree at the University of Arizona, Arizona State
University and Northern Arizona University are invited to apply.
Do I have to be a broadcasting or electronic media student?
No. A background in journalism and/or experience with video equipment is preferred,
but not required.

• A written statement (300 words or less). Include your purpose for applying
for the internship, background you can bring to the experience, and aspects
of the internship that interest you the most.

Legal Internship
Description of Position
The Arizona Legislative Legal Internship Program provides a unique opportunity to second and third year ASU and UofA law students to learn about state government, current legal issues and the legislative process. The program affords participants intensive research and writing opportunities.
Positions are available in both the Senate and the House of Representatives with the non-partisan Rules Committee legal staff and the Democrat legal staff, and with the Legislative Council, the Legislature's non-partisan bill drafting and research agency.
Eligibility
Second and third year ASU and UofA law students.
