AN ACT
amending section 41-1830.11, Arizona Revised Statutes; relating to the law enforcement merit system council.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Section 41-1830.11, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended to read:
41-1830.11. Law enforcement merit system council; composition
A. The governor shall appoint a law enforcement merit system council. The council consists of three five persons chosen on the basis of experience in and sympathy with merit principles of public employment. The members of the council shall not have held elective public office within one year before appointment and shall not hold any other political office while serving on the council.
B. The governor shall fill a vacancy on the same basis as the original appointment.
C. Members of the council are not eligible to receive compensation for their services but are eligible to receive reimbursement of expenses pursuant to title 38, chapter 4, article 2.
D. A member serves for a term of six years. The governor may remove a member only for cause.
E. The chairman of the council serves as an ex officio member of the state personnel board without voting privileges.
