AN ACT
making an appropriation; relating to the purchase of equipment and supplies for county deputies.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Appropriation; border security
The sum of $5,000,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2010‑2011 to the department of public safety to be used by the department of public safety to enter into a memorandum of understanding with a county with a population of more than two hundred fifty thousand persons but less than eight hundred thousand persons to purchase equipment and supplies for deputies in the county for border security. On or before June 30, 2011, the department of public safety shall report to the joint legislative budget committee regarding the use of these monies.
Sec. 2. Source of monies
The legislature recognizes that monies in excess of the amount appropriated in section 1 of this act have been deposited in the state general fund from the photo enforcement fund pursuant to section 41-1722, Arizona Revised Statutes, during fiscal year 2010-2011.
Sec. 3. Short title
This act shall be known as the "Border Crime Unit Act".
Sec. 4. Emergency
This act is an emergency measure that is necessary to preserve the public peace, health or safety and is operative immediately as provided by law.
