AN ACT

 

Amending Title 41, chapter 14, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 41-1970; relating to the public assistance education program.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 41, chapter 14, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 41-1970, to read:

START_STATUTE41-1970.  Public assistance education program; program termination

A.  The department shall establish the public assistance education program to educate and teach recipients of public assistance under titles 36 and 46 the fundamentals of medical care, nutrition, hygiene and responsibility.  The goals of the program include teaching the recipient the associated costs and the funding sources of the public assistance, creating personal ownership for the recipient, instilling a sense of gratitude for the public assistance and developing independence.  The department shall make the program available on the department's official internet website. 

B.  The program shall be voluntary and include a series of short internet lessons and quizzes for current and prospective recipients of public assistance.  The program shall track the participation and successful completion of the lessons by current and prospective recipients.  A current or prospective recipient that successfully completes a program lesson and passes a quiz shall receive an award from the department.

C.  The department shall adopt rules necessary to administer the program.

D.  The program established by this section ends on July 1, 2022 pursuant to section 41-3102. END_STATUTE
