FLOOR AMENDMENT EXPLANATION

 

The Burges Floor Amendment prohibits public officers and state employees required to take the loyalty oath to support the Constitution of the united Sates and the Constitution and laws of Arizona from recognizing the United Nations or any of its declarations as legal authority in this state.

 

The amendment prohibits the state of Arizona and all of its political subdivisions from directly, knowingly and for the express purpose of adopting or implementing the Declaration expending any money, being a member of, receiving funding from or giving aid to any group that espouses the usurping or overthrow of the Constitution of the United States.

 

Finally, the amendment modifies the definition of political subdivision.
