A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

 

proposing an amendment to the CONSTITUTION of Arizona; amending article VII, section 11, CONSTITUTION of Arizona; relating to the general election.

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of Arizona, the Senate concurring:

1.  Article VII, section 11, Constitution of Arizona, is proposed to be amended as follows if approved by the voters and on proclamation of the Governor:

START_STATUTE11.  General elections; date; exception

Section 11.  There shall be a general election of representatives in congress, and of state, county and precinct officers on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of the first even numbered year after the year in which Arizona is admitted to statehood and biennially thereafter, except that for candidates for offices other than representative in congress and United States senator, a candidate who wins the primary election for that office and who has no write-in or other opposition for that office at the general election shall be deemed and declared the winner of the general election.END_STATUTE

2.  The Secretary of State shall submit this proposition to the voters at the next general election as provided by article XXI, Constitution of Arizona.
