S.B. 1297 requires health care professionals contracted with AHCCCS health plans to check the Prescription Monitoring database before prescribing a controlled substance to members.

 

The Ward Floor amendment exempts oncologists and hematologists who prescribe controlled substances for the treatment of pain associated with cancer or progressive sickle cell disease from the requirement to check the database.
