FLOOR AMENDMENT EXPLANATION

 

The Barto Floor Amendment removes the provision that would have allowed optometrists to administer injections.

 

Limits oral steroid use to an amount packaged for a single course of therapy.

 

Clarifies the provision allowing an optometrist to prescribe controlled substances reclassified from Schedule III to Schedule II is limited to analgesics (painkillers).

Line 17, after “analgesic” insert “and any controlled substance only if it is an analgesic that is reclassified from schedule iii to schedule ii after january 1, 2014”
