FLOOR AMENDMENT EXPLANATION

 

The Griffin floor amendment Requires the Legislature to review this state’s participation in the Interstate Compact for Supervision of Adult Offenders every eight years starting in 2022 and authorizes the Legislature to withdraw from the compact if necessary.

Strike pages 28 through 40, insert:

"Sec. 20.  Title 31, chapter 3, article 4.1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 31-467.07, to read:

START_STATUTE31-467.07.  Interstate compact for the supervision of adult offenders; eight‑year review

Beginning in 2022 and every eight years thereafter, the legislature shall review this state's participation in the interstate compact for supervision of adult offenders in order to determine whether to remain a compacting state.  If the legislature determines that this state should withdraw from the compact, this state shall withdraw from the compact pursuant to section 31‑467, article XII."END_STATUTE
