AN ACT
making an appropriation to the department of public safety for reimbursement of border security expenses.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Appropriation; gang and immigration intelligence team enforcement mission border security and law enforcement subaccount; distribution; border security
A. The sum of $ _____ is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2014-2015 to the gang and immigration intelligence team enforcement mission border security and law enforcement subaccount established by section 41-1724, Arizona Revised Statutes, for distribution to county sheriffs to reimburse expenses incurred by the county sheriffs in fiscal year 2012-2013 for law enforcement purposes related to border security, including border personnel.
B. On or before October 31, 2014, a county sheriff may submit a claim to the department of public safety for reimbursement of expenses incurred by the county sheriff in fiscal year 2012-2013 for border security. The claim must include an itemized statement of expenses incurred for law enforcement purposes related to border security, including border personnel.
C. The department of public safety shall review and may adjust the claims received pursuant to subsection B of this section before approving the claims. The department shall pay the approved claims from the monies appropriated in subsection A of this section. If the amount appropriated in subsection A of this section is insufficient to pay all approved claims in full, the department shall pay approved claims on a pro rata basis.
