AN ACT
amending title 28, chapter 3, article 15, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 28-913; relating to the use of handheld wireless communication devices while driving.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Title 28, chapter 3, article 15, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 28-913, to read:
28-913. Handheld wireless communication device use while operating public transit, livery vehicles, taxis, limousines or buses; prohibition; exception
A. A person may not use a handheld wireless communication device to make or receive a telephone call, to engage in a telephone conversation or to manually write, send or read a written message while operating a vehicle for public transit, a livery vehicle, a taxi, a limousine or a bus.
B. This section does not apply to a person who dials the telephone number 911.
