AN ACT

 

amending title 8, chapter 2, article 4, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 8‑249; relating to child safety.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 8, chapter 2, article 4, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 8-249, to read:

START_STATUTE8-249.  State wards; medical or genetic experimentation; medication administration; prohibition

A.  A court, the department of juvenile corrections, a foster parent or a child welfare agency may not order or allow a child committed to the department of juvenile corrections or a foster child as defined in section 8‑501 to be subject to medical or genetic experimentation or administered any medication that is not approved by the United States food and drug administration.

B.  A physician who is licensed pursuant to title 32, chapter 13 or 17 may not conduct medical or genetic experimentation on or administer any medication that is not approved by the United States food and drug administration to a child who is committed to the department of juvenile corrections or a foster child as defined in section 8-501.
