AMENDMENT EXPLANATION
The Peshlakai Amendment contains three provisions:
1. Provides AHCCCS members
who are at least age 21 and in any stage of pregnancy, dental services in an
annual amount of not more than $1000.
2. Appropriates $1.3
million from the General Fund and $2.9 million in federal Medicaid authority in
FY 18 to AHCCCS to provide dental services to pregnant women.
3. Specifies that the
$1000 dental benefit cap for pregnant women does not apply to a member who is
eligible to receive and who has received the services at an Indian Health
Service or tribal facility.

The sum of
$1,272,800 from the state general fund and the sum of $2,954,300 from federal
medicaid authority are appropriated in fiscal year 2017‑2018 to the
Arizona health care cost containment system administration to provide dental
services to pregnant women as specified in section 36‑2907, Arizona
Revised Statutes, as amended by this act."
