AN ACT

 

appropriating monies for additional assistance for gifted education programs.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Appropriation; department of education; additional assistance for gifted education programs; assessment grants; exemption

A.  The sum of $5,000,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2018-2019 to the department of education to be allocated in the following amounts for the following purposes:

1.  $4,500,000 for additional assistance for gifted programs pursuant to section 15‑779.03, Arizona Revised Statutes.

2.  $500,000 to be distributed in the form of grants to school districts and charter schools that apply to the department of education for assessments to identify gifted pupils.

B.  The appropriation made in subsection A of this section is exempt from the provisions of section 35-190, Arizona Revised Statutes, relating to lapsing of appropriations.
