Justin Wilmeth has served Legislative District 2 since 2021. Covering the North Phoenix area, LD2 ranges from Moon Valley to Deer Valley Airport to Norterra roughly between Interstate 17 and State Highway 51. During his time in the Legislature, Wilmeth has focused on economic development, international trade and finding common-sense solutions to the problems facing Arizonans. Over the course of four Legislative sessions, he spearheaded 29 bills that were signed into law. Chief among those were: Modernizing gym membership cancellation; banning state contractors utilizing Uyghur slave labor; protecting tipped employee earning potential; numerous measures modernizing/shrinking regulations and eliminating red tape; establishing the Arizona Space Commission; and, yes, declaring Pluto as Arizona's state planet. The past two years, Wilmeth has served the House as Commerce Chairman, where he focused on hearing common-sense, pro-commerce, free-market measures to make Arizona's economic environment stronger across the board. In the realm of international economic development, he has directly added Arizona International Trade and Investment offices in: Frankfurt, Germany; Taipei, Taiwan; Seoul, South Korea; three locations in Canada (Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver); and southeast Asia. Wilmeth, 45, is a two-time graduate of Arizona State University, earning a bachelor's degree in political science and a Master of Public Administration. He enjoys reading about history and international affairs, watching as much baseball as possible and road trips all over the state. |
