Study Committee on Regional Alcohol Detoxification Centers
PURPOSE: To: (1) examine and review data regarding alcohol abuse and the effect it has on county governments; (2) review federal and state laws that impact the use of behavioral health services for alcohol and substance detoxification services; (3) examine and review data regarding alcohol-related crimes and deaths; (4) review the number of detoxification programs operating in this state and assess the current and projected availability of existing services to provide detoxification services in the future; (5) study the detoxification services provided by communities outside of Arizona; (6) identify treatment models that may be successful in regions of this state; (7) identify potential sources of funding for the operation of regional detoxification centers. The Committee shall submit a written report that contains the Committee's study results and recommendations to the Governor, the President of the Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Secretary of State and the Director of Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records by November 16, 2004.
