            Amendment drafted by: Brandi Lease

FLOOR AMENDMENT EXPLANATION

1.    Shortens the length of time before a county school superintendent may suspend a common school district for having too few pupils from two consecutive school years to one school year.

2.    Eliminates the requirement that the county school superintendent must notify the common school district and board of supervisors of a school that has too few pupils.

3.    Authorizes the county school superintendent, rather than the board of supervisors, to provide more time for a common school district to recruit more students.
