AN ACT

 

amending Title 15, chapter 9, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 15-901.04; relating to school finance.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 15, chapter 9, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 15-901.04, to read:

START_STATUTE15-901.04.  Funding based on enrollment

Notwithstanding any other law, Beginning in the 2019‑2020 school year, per pupil funding prescribed in this chapter shall be based on school enrollment and not on any other funding criterion that is based in whole or in part on school attendance.  The requirement prescribed in this section shall include average daily membership as defined in section 15‑901.  END_STATUTE

Sec. 2.  Conforming legislation

The legislative council staff, in consultation with the staffs of the department of education, the joint legislative budget committee and the office of strategic planning and budgeting, shall prepare proposed legislation conforming the Arizona Revised Statutes to the provisions of this act for consideration in the fifty‑fourth legislature, first regular session.
