AMENDMENT EXPLANATION
Directs AHCCCS, in consultation with the Department
of Insurance, to study and submit a report to the Governor, Senate President,
House Speaker and the Secretary of State, by December 1, 2018, on the
following:

The
number of uninsured and underinsured individuals in Arizona by county and
populations including age, gender and race.
·
Potential
alternatives for an affordable, public option for health insurance for
uninsured and underinsured individuals that would be administered by the state,
including key policy and budget considerations associated with each
alternative.

"Sec. 25. AHCCCS; department of insurance; study of public health insurance
options; report; delayed repeal
A. On
or before December 1, 2018, the Arizona health care cost containment system
administration, in consultation with the department of insurance, shall study
and submit a report to the governor, the president of the senate and the
speaker of the house of representatives, and provide a copy of the report to
the secretary of state, on the following:
1. The
number of uninsured and underinsured individuals in this state by county and
populations, including age, gender and race.
2. Potential
alternatives for an affordable, public option for health insurance for
uninsured and underinsured individuals that would be administered by this
state, including key policy and budget considerations associated with each
alternative.
B. This
section is repealed from and after June 30, 2019."
