Abstract
Relating to county school superintendents.
Provisions
1.
Allows a county school
superintendent to act as a LEA for and provide service programs and assistance
to private NONPROFIT AND PUBLIC
libraries, private schools, tribal libraries and tribal schools. (Sec.
1,2,4)(ED)
2.
Permits school district
governing boards to enter into IGAs AGREEMENTS with
private NONPROFIT AND PUBLIC
libraries, private schools, tribal libraries and tribal schools in the
same county. (Sec. 3)(ED)
3. Makes technical and conforming changes. (Sec. 1-4)
Current Law
County school superintendents are charged with providing assistance to school districts, charter schools, county free library districts and municipal libraries on the use of student data, staff development, curriculum alignment and technology to improve student performance (A.R.S. § 15-302). In addition to providing assistance, county school superintendents may establish service programs upon request to the previously outlined entities and act as an LEA that is eligible to receive and spend local, state and federal monies to provide services (A.R.S. §§ 15-302, 15-365). School district governing boards are authorized to enter into IGAs with counties, county free library districts and municipal libraries in the county in which they are located (A.R.S. § 15-362).
