Abstract

Provisions

1.       Declares educators who teach or administer a JTED satellite program or course to be ineligible to be a candidate for election to the JTED's governing board.

a.       Allows those persons to be appointed to the JTED governing board by the county school superintendent. (Sec. 1)

2.       Permits current JTED governing board members to serve the remainder of their normal term. (Sec. 2).

3.       Makes technical changes. (Sec. 1)

Current Law

Persons are eligible for election to a JTED governing board if the person is a registered voter and a resident of the single member district. Employees of a JTED or the spouse of an employee are prohibited from serving on the governing board of the same JTED. In addition, members of a member district governing board are prohibited from simultaneously serving on the JTED governing board (A.R.S. § 15-393).
