Abstract

Provisions

1.       Prohibits a fire district, community park district or sanitation district from expanding its boundaries if the proposed addition is separated by more than ¼ mile of land owned by or under the jurisdiction of the U.S. government, the state or a political subdivision. (Sec. 1)

2.       Makes technical and conforming changes. (Sec. 1)

Current Law

A fire district, community park district or sanitation district is prohibited from expanding its boundaries if the proposed expansion area is not contiguous with the district's current boundaries.  A district expansion is considered contiguous if the expansion area is separated from the current boundaries of the district by land that is owned or under the control of the U.S. government, the state or a political subdivision other than a city or town (A.R.S. § 49-262).
