Relating to appropriations to the ADFFM.
Provisions
1. Appropriates $172,100 in FY 2019 from the GF to the ADFFM to operate a state fire school. (Sec. 1)
Current Law
Starting in 1973, the AFTC, currently under the ADFFM, organizes and oversees the Arizona Fire School. The annual Arizona Fire School consists of a multi-day program of workshops and educational courses. The AFTC is composed of 40 members from local fire departments, governmental agencies and the fire prevention industry. Starting in 1986, the AFTC offers scholarships to assist fire departments in attending the annual Arizona Fire School. (JLBC Arizona Fire School Program Summary)
In FY 2018, the ADFFM was appropriated $173,100 for state fire school operations. Of this appropriation $100,000 of the monies subsidized scholarships for departments attending the Arizona Fire School. The remaining $73,100 funded one FTE for a liaison position for the AFTC (JLBC FY 2017 Appropriations Report). Prior to FY 2017, the state fire school special line item was under the Arizona Department of Fire, Building and Life Safety (JLBC FY 2016 Appropriations Report).
