Relating to municipal and county health insurance mandates.
Provisions
1. Prohibits a city, town or county from requiring an employer to provide health insurance to its employees. (Sec. 1, 2)
2. Asserts that the regulation of health insurance is of statewide concern and not subject to further municipal or county regulation. (Sec. 1, 2)
Additional Information
Currently, an applicable large employer with at least 50 FTE's that does not offer health insurance and meets certain minimum requirements to its employees and their dependents may be subject to specified penalties. Applicable large employers are determined based off the number of FTE's and part time employees, based off the number of hours and days worked during the calendar year (26 U.S.C. § 4980H).
