Purpose
Requires the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) to issue a semi-annual financial and program accountability trends report beginning April 1, 2019. Extends the requirement that the Department of Child Safety (DCS) issue a quarterly financial and program accountability trends report through December 31, 2020.
Background
Laws 2016, Chapter 273 § 1 requires that AHCCCS and DCS prepare and issue a quarterly financial and program accountability trends report through December 31, 2018. This report is given to the Governor, the chairpersons of the House of Representatives Health and Children and Family Affairs Committee, the chairperson of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, the Director of the Joint Legislative Budget Committee and the Director of the Governor's Office of Strategic Planning and Budgeting.
There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this legislation.
Provisions
1. Requires AHCCCS, beginning April 1, 2019, to prepare and issue a semi-annual, rather than quarterly, financial and program accountability trends report.
2. Requires DCS to prepare and issue a quarterly financial and program accountability trends report through December 31, 2020.
3. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
Amendments Adopted by House of Representatives
· Decreases the frequency of the AHCCCS report from quarterly to a semi-annual.
