AN ACT

 

amending section 32‑1125.01, Arizona Revised Statutes; relating to contractors.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Section 32-1125.01, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended to read:

START_STATUTE32-1125.01.  Inactive license

A.  A contractor may request the registrar, on forms prescribed by the registrar, to inactivate his the contractor's current license for a period not to exceed five fifteen years at one time by giving written notice to the registrar.  The registrar may, in the absence of any disciplinary proceeding or disciplinary suspension and upon on payment of reasonable fees determined by the registrar, may issue to the contractor an inactive license certificate.  The inactive license certificate may consist of an endorsement upon on the contractor's license stating that the license is inactive.  The registrar may not refund any of the license renewal fee which a contractor paid prior to before requesting inactive status.

B.  A contractor's license which that is not suspended or revoked and that is inactive may be reactivated as an active license upon on payment of the current renewal fee and thirty days' written notice to the registrar.  No An examination may not be required to reactivate an inactive license.  If the license is not reactivated within five fifteen years, a new application for licensing must be made unless the contractor requests, on forms prescribed by the registrar, to inactivate the license for an additional period not to exceed five fifteen years.  No A contractor may not inactivate the license more than twice.

C.  The holder of an inactive license shall not practice as a contractor until his the license is reactivated as an active license.

D.  The inactive status of a contractor's license shall not bar any disciplinary action by the registrar against a licensed contractor for any of the grounds stated in this chapter. END_STATUTE
