1.    Directs the Department of Education (ADE) to conduct a feasibility study on the cost of:

a.    Capping classroom size at 25 students per classroom.

b.    Capping the student to counselor ratio at 250 students for each school counselor.

 

2.    Requires ADE to report on the findings of the cost study to the Governor, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and President of the Senate by July 1, 2019.

Page 1, between lines 1 and 2, insert:

"Section 1.  Feasibility study; classroom size cap and counselor-to-student ratio; report

A.  The department of education shall conduct a feasibility study on the costs of:

1.  Capping classroom size at twenty‑five pupils per classroom.

2.  Capping the pupils‑to‑counselor ratio at two hundred fifty pupils for each school counselor.

B.  The department of education shall submit a report that summarizes its findings on the cost study to the governor, the speaker of the house of representatives and the president of the senate by July 1, 2019.  The department shall provide a copy of this report to the secretary of state.

C.  This section is repealed from and after December 31, 2019."  END_STATUTE
