AMENDMENT EXPLANATION
1.
Requires
the Department of Education to annually report the zip-code, annual income, and
racial demographics of Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) recipients.
a.
Specifies
the report must be submitted to Governor, the President of the Senate, the
Speaker of the House, and a copy be provided to the Secretary of State.
2.
Requires
information in the report to be included in the superintendent's annual report.
3.
Requires
students on an ESA to take either the statewide assessment or an assessment on
the Menu of Assessments, approved by the State Board of Education.

"Section
1. Title 15, chapter 19, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is
amended by adding sections 15-2405 and 15-2406, to read:
START_STATUTE15-2405. Empowerment
scholarship accounts; annual report
A. In
addition to the other reporting requirements prescribed in this article, The
department of education shall submit an annual report to the governor, the
president of the senate and the speaker of the house of representatives that
lists the postal zip codes, family income and racial demographics of recipients
of empowerment scholarship accounts.
B. The
information prescribed in subsection A of this section shall also be included
in the annual report of the superintendent of public instruction.
C. The
department of education shall provide a copy of the report prescribed in
subsection A of this section to the secretary of state. END_STATUTE

requirements
Each
recipient of an empowerment scholarship account shall elect to participate in
either the statewide assessment prescribed in section 15‑741 or the menu
of locally procured achievement assessments prescribed in section 15‑741.02." END_STATUTE
