AN ACT
amending Title 38, chapter 4, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding article 6; relating to state employee compensation.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Title 38, chapter 4, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding article 6, to read:
ARTICLE 6. FAMILY LEAVE
38-681. Family leave; state employees
A. A state employee whose employment is subject to title 41, chapter 4, article 4 or who is exempt pursuant to section 41-742, subsection D, paragraph 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 or 8 is granted six weeks of paid leave for the birth of a child or placement of a child in connection with foster care or adoption. During the leave of absence, the state employee shall continue to receive the employee's salary or compensation.
B. A state employee who receives salary or compensation pursuant to subsection A of this section is not entitled to accrue annual leave or sick leave during the period of family leave.
C. The director of the department of administration shall establish procedures to be used by an eligible state employee to receive compensation pursuant to subsection A of this section.
