FLOOR AMENDMENT EXPLANATION
1. Appropriates $5,000,000 in FY 2020 from the state General Fund to the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) to be allocated as follows:
a) $4,700,000 for additional assistance for gifted education programs; and
b) $300,000 for use by ADE to administer the additional assistance.
2. Exempts the appropriation from lapsing.

"Sec. 2. Appropriation; department of education; additional assistance for gifted education programs; administration; exemption
A. The sum of $5,000,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2019-2020 to the department of education to be allocated in the following amounts for the following purposes:
1. $4,700,000 for additional assistance for gifted education programs pursuant to section 15-779.03, Arizona Revised Statutes.
2. $300,000 to be used by the department of education to administer the additional assistance for gifted education programs pursuant to section 15-779.03, Arizona Revised Statutes.
B. The appropriation made in subsection A of this section is exempt from the provisions of section 35-190, Arizona Revised Statutes, relating to lapsing of appropriations."
