History

In current statute, once the voter registration form is completed, signed and received by the county recorder it becomes an official public record of the registration of the elector (A.R.S § 16-161). An elector is not required to submit proof of citizenship, but if proof is not provided during registration, the elector may only vote in federal elections (www.azsos.gov). Upon completion of voter registration forms, the forms are filed alphabetically and stored in the general county register. After each general election the county recorder is required to provide an updated record of registration in the county general register to the Arizona state library, archives and public records. Images of original registration forms must be stored electronically in the voter registration database (A.R.S § 16-163).

2.       Specifies that after each general election, the recorder must post on the recorder's website the number of ballots cast by those eligible to vote for federal offices only. (Sec. 1)
