History

The Arizona Residential Landlord and Tenant Act applies to, regulates and determines the rights, obligations and remedies under a rental agreement for a dwelling unit located in Arizona (A.R.S. § 33-1307). The purpose of the Arizona Residential Landlord and Tenant Act is to simplify, clarify, modernize and revise the laws governing the rental of dwelling units and the rights and obligations of landlords and tenants and to encourage landlords and tenants to maintain and improve the quality of housing (A.R.S. § 33-1302).

Provisions

1.       States that the regulation of rights, obligations and remedies of landlords and tenants is a matter of statewide concern. (Sec. 1)

2.       Stipulates that the regulation of the rights, obligations and remedies pursuant with the Arizona Residential Landlord and Tenant Act are not subject to further regulation by a county, city, town, or other political subdivision of this state. (Sec. 1)

3.       Makes a technical change. (Sec. 1)
