HB 2133: voter registration; updates; internet address |
||
PRIME SPONSOR: Representative Thorpe, LD 6 BILL STATUS: Elections |
|
Allows county recorders to include an internet address for revising voter registration information.
History
If a county recorder sends nonforwardable, first class mail to any elector and it is returned undelivered, the county recorder must then send a follow-up notice to the address that appears in the general county register or the forwarding address provided by United States Postal Service (USPS). The follow-up notice is required to include a registration form and the information prescribed in statute and shall state that if the elector does not complete and return the new registration form with current information within 35 days then the elector's registration status will be changed from active to inactive. (A.R.S. § 16-666).
The Arizona Secretary of State (SOS) allows voters to update their voter information through the SOS website. It is encouraged that voters update their information if they have a change of address or name or if they would like to change their political party affiliation. Voters may also update their information by mail or in person at their respective county recorder's office. (www.azsos.gov)
