Summary of the Strike-Everything Amendment to HB2237

History

On-site early voting locations may be established by the county recorder at the recorder's office which must be open and available for use beginning the same day that a county begins to send out the early ballots. The county recorder also has the authority to establish any other early voting locations in the county that the recorder deems necessary.

An elector is permitted to vote early if they personally appear at an on-site early voting location that is established by the county recorder or other officer in charge of elections no later than 5:00 P.M. on the Friday preceding the election (A.R.S. § 16-542). 

Provisions

1.       Allows other officers in charge of elections to establish any other early voting locations they deem necessary upon the approval from the county board of supervisors. (Sec. 1)

2.       Authorizes a county recorder or other officer in charge of elections who establishes early voting centers to operate those early voting locations and on-site early voting locations until 5:00 P.M. on the Monday immediately preceding election day. (Sec. 1)

3.       Stipulates that early voting must end for early voting locations and on-site early voting locations as needed to ensure that precinct registers and other election materials are revised for use on election day to indicate:

a.       Which voters have requested an early ballot;

b.       Which voters have already voted;

c.        Which voters are on the inactive voter list. (Sec. 1)
