History

Current boundaries of Arizona counties are outlined in Arizona Revised Statutes Title 11, Chapter 1. Cochise and Santa Cruz counties are found in the Southeast corner of Arizona both sharing their Southern border with the Republic of Mexico and with Cochise to the East bordering New Mexico (A.R..S. §11-104, 114).

Provisions

1.       Establishes the Committee consisting of the following members:

a.       Three members of the House of Representatives appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Not more than two being from the same party.

b.       Three members of the Senate appointed by the President of the Senate. Not more than two being from the same party.

c.        Three knowledgeable public members appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

d.       Three knowledgeable public members appointed by the President of the Senate.

e.       One member appointed by the Governor. (Sec. 1)

2.       Specifies that a majority of members shall constitute a quorum and shall elect one member to serve as chairperson. (Sec. 1)

3.       Requires the Committee to submit a report of its findings and recommendations to the Governor, the President of the Senate, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives on or before June 30, 2020 and that a copy of the report must be provided to the Secretary of State. (Sec. 1)

4.       Permits the Committee to use legislative staff to provide administrative and operational services. (Sec. 1)

5.       States that on request, an agency of this state or a political subdivision of this state must provide the Committee with its services, equipment, documents, personnel and facilities to the extent possible without cost to the Committee. (Sec. 1)

6.       Contains a repeal date of December 31, 2020. (Sec. 1)
