History

The county treasurer is the custodian of public monies at the county level and is responsible for collecting real property tax among others levied on the residents and businesses in the county (A.R.S. §11-493).

Current law does not require the county treasurer to inform owners or lenders of the taxes due on a mortgaged property unless requested (A.R.S. §42-18054). A mortgagee is the lender typically a bank and a mortgagor is the borrower typically a homeowner of a mortgaged property.  

Provisions

1.       Requires the county treasurer to mail a written document with a statement of taxes due to a mortgagor's last known address. (Sec. 1)

2.       Specifies that upon request of the mortgagee that the county treasurer shall send a statement of taxes due. (Sec. 1)
