Changes certain requirements for an Arizona community college to grant admission to any student under 18 years of age and contains an emergency clause.
History
For a student under the age of 18 to be admitted into an Arizona community college, the student must have completed all course prerequisites and must have achieved one of the following:
· graduated from a private or public high school, or has a high school certificate of the same equivalence;
· completed a designated college placement test that tests if the student is at the appropriate college level; or
· received, at minimum, a composite score of either:
o 93 on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT);
o 930 on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT); or
o 22 on the American College Test (ACT) (A.R.S. § 15-1805.01(B)).
Students who are homeschooled and under 18 years old are exempt from the outlined requirements for admission to an Arizona community college (A.R.S. § 15-1805.01(C)). Furthermore, students who enroll in vocational courses can be admitted on an individual basis if the student meets the requirements for the enrolled college courses and the community college determines that the student's admission is in the best interest of the student (A.R.S. § 15-1805.01(D)).
