FLOOR
AMENDMENT EXPLANATION
1. Removes requirements
that a seizure management and treatment plan (treatment plan) must:
a) identify health care
services a pupil may receive at school or while participating in a
school-sponsored activity; and
b)
evaluate
the pupil's level of understanding to manage the pupil's seizures.
2. Adds that a treatment
plan must include:
a) procedures recommended
by the physician responsible for the treatment plan to manage an active
seizure; and
b)
other
health care services available at the school that the pupil may receive to help
manage the disorder.
3. Requires a school nurse
to review each treatment plan.
4. Requires the district
or charter school to designate an employee, if a school nurse is not available,
to review each treatment plan.
5. Requires a district or
charter school to comply with the outlined requirements if:
a) a pupil requires a 504
educational accommodation; and
b)
the
504-accommodation plan includes a seizure management and treatment plan.
6. Makes technical and
conforming changes.
