FLOOR AMENDMENT EXPLANATION

 

1.    Requires each retail pharmacy in Arizona to annually compile the names of the 25 most frequently prescribed drugs to patients and the cash-pay price of each drug at that pharmacy.

2.    Directs the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy (Board) to conduct a survey of all Arizona retail pharmacies regarding the cash-pay price for patients to purchase insulin or epinephrine auto-injectors.

3.    Requires, by December 1, 2020, the Board to compile the survey results and provide a report to the Governor, the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives and to provide a copy to the Secretary of State.

Page 1, between lines 1 and 2, insert:

"Section 1.  Title 32, chapter 18, article 3, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 32-1971, to read:

START_STATUTE32-1971.  Retail pharmacies; cash-pay price; posting

Each retail pharmacy in this state shall annually compile the names of the twenty‑five most frequently prescribed drugs to patients, including insulin and epinephrine auto‑injectors, and the cash‑pay price of each drug at that pharmacy.  The pharmacy shall post this information at that pharmacy location and online, if applicable." END_STATUTE

"Sec. 3.  Arizona state board of pharmacy; survey; report; delayed repeal

A.  The Arizona state board of pharmacy shall conduct a survey of all retail pharmacies in this state regarding the cash‑pay price for patients to purchase insulin or epinephrine auto‑injectors.  On or before December 1, 2020, the board shall compile the survey results and provide a report to the governor, the president of the senate and the speaker of the house of representatives and a copy to the secretary of state.

B.  This section is repealed from and after June 30, 2021."
