AN ACT
APPROPRIATING
monies to the Arizona criminal justice commission.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Appropriations; Arizona criminal justice commission; alternative prosecution and diversion programs; fiscal years 2020‑2021, 2021‑2022 and 2022‑2023; reports; definition
A. The sum of $17,056,851 is appropriated from the state general fund in each of fiscal years 2020-2021, 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 to the Arizona criminal justice commission for alternative prosecution and diversion programs. The monies shall be allocated each fiscal year to each county attorney's office as follows:
1. Apache $ 155,444
2. Cochise $ 276,247
3. Coconino $ 1,176,000
4. Gila $ 116,474
5. Graham $ 100,000
6. Greenlee $ 100,000
7. La Paz $ 100,000
8. Maricopa $ 4,250,000
9. Mohave $ 451,403
10. Navajo $ 238,997
11. Pima $ 2,192,281
12. Pinal $ 933,957
13. Santa Cruz $ 111,055
14. Yavapai $ 485,367
15. Yuma $ 477,400
B. The monies appropriated by this section may be used only to:
1. Establish and operate alternative prosecution and diversion programs.
2. Explore, develop, apply and evaluate evidence-based best practices for alternative prosecution and diversion programs.
C. On or before September 30 in 2021, 2022 and 2023, the Arizona criminal justice commission shall submit a report to the joint legislative budget committee on the use of the monies during the previous fiscal year.
D. For the purposes of
this section, "diversion programs" includes prearrest programs that
address the social and behavioral causes of criminogenic conduct.
