AN ACT
amending Title
15, chapter 2, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section
15-249.16; relating to the department of education.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Title 15, chapter 2, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 15-249.16, to read:
15-249.16. Career landscape
information collection; distribution
A. The department of education shall
annually collect and compile all of the following information:
1. The most in‑demand jobs in
this state, including the starting salary and required education level for each
of these jobs.
2. The average cost to attend each of
the following:
(a) Each
university under the jurisdiction of the Arizona board of regents.
(b) Community
colleges as defined in section 15‑1401.
(c) Vocational
programs as defined in section 15‑1831.
3. The average monthly student loan
payment of individuals who attended each of the following:
(a) Each
university under the jurisdiction of the Arizona board of regents.
(b) Community
colleges as defined in section 15‑1401.
(c) Vocational
programs as defined in section 15‑1831.
4. The average three‑year
student loan default rate of individuals who attended each of the following:
(a) Each
university under the jurisdiction of the Arizona board of regents.
(b) Community
colleges as defined in section 15‑1401.
(c) Vocational
programs as defined in section 15‑1831.
5. The average graduation rate for
each of the following:
(a) Each
university under the jurisdiction of the Arizona board of regents.
(b) Community
colleges as defined in section 15‑1401.
(c) Vocational
programs as defined in section 15‑1831.
6. The completion rates for all of
the following:
(a) Department
of economic security‑approved and United States department of labor‑approved
apprenticeship programs.
(b) High school
equivalency programs in this state.
(c) Career and
technical education programs.
(d) United
States military first‑term enlistments.
7. The percentage of college
graduates, by major, who are working in an occupation that does not require a
college degree.
8. The average starting salary of
individuals who graduated from each of the following:
(a) Each
university under the jurisdiction of the Arizona board of regents.
(b) Community
colleges as defined in section 15‑1401.
(c) Vocational
programs as defined in section 15‑1831.
B. Not later than October 15 of each
year, the department of education shall transmit the information collected and
compiled pursuant to subsection A of this section to each public high school in
this state to distribute to pupils.
C. The department of education may enter into a memorandum of understanding that provides for data sharing with any agency of this state for the purposes of collecting any information required under subsection A of this section.
Sec. 2. Short title
This act may be cited as the "Students' Right to Know Act".
Sec. 3. Effective date
This act is effective from and after December 31, 2020.
