AN ACT
appropriating
monies to arizona Community colleges.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Appropriations; community college districts; public safety
A. In addition to any other appropriations made in fiscal year 2020-2021, the sum of $150,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2020-2021 to each community college district located in a county with a population of less than five hundred thousand persons. The district must spend the monies appropriated by this subsection to enhance public safety for the district, including creating at least one new peace officer position to be filled by a peace officer who is certified by the Arizona peace officer standards and training board established by section 41-1821, Arizona Revised Statutes.
B. In addition to any other appropriations made in fiscal year 2020-2021, the sum of $150,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2020-2021 to each community college district located in a county with a population of less than five hundred thousand persons that provides on-campus housing for at least one hundred persons. The district must spend the monies appropriated by this subsection to enhance public safety for the district, including creating at least one new peace officer position to be filled by a peace officer who is certified by the Arizona peace officer standards and training board established by section 41-1821, Arizona Revised Statutes.
C. In addition to any other appropriations made in fiscal year 2020-2021, the sum of $150,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2020-2021 to each community college district located in a county with a population of less than five hundred thousand persons that functions as the primary educational provider to a provisional community college district. The district must spend the monies appropriated by this subsection to enhance public safety for the district, including creating at least one new full-time peace officer position or two new part-time peace officer positions to be filled by a peace officer who is certified by the Arizona peace officer standards and training board established by section 41-1821, Arizona Revised Statutes. The peace officer or officers must be based at the provisional community college.
D. A community college district receiving monies
appropriated by this section may use the monies to contract with a local police
agency to provide the new peace officers required by this section.
