Sponsor: Representative Teller, LD 7
Committee on Land & Agriculture
Overview
Appropriates $100,000 from the state General Fund to the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management (DFFM) in FY 2021 to the Vernon Fire District for equipment and training.
History
The DFFM is responsible for the prevention and suppression of forest fires on about 22 million acres of State Trust Land and private land outside municipalities. The department includes the Office of the State Fire Marshal, which enforces state fire codes and provides training for fire personnel and the public. In FY 2021, the DFFM's operating budget was $3,092,200 and 43 FTE positions from the state General Fund. This was unchanged for FY 2020.
Appropriations have been made from the General Fund to the DFFM to distribute to fire districts in the past. In FY 2020, an appropriation of $750,000 was distributed to the Mount Lemmon Fire District to construct a water line.
