Overview

Changes the requirements for the formatting, tabulation and retention of specific ballots.

History

Current requirements for the format of a ballot include:

1)    A ballot must be printed on white paper with black ink, the paper must be of enough thickness to prevent printed words from being visible on the back of the ballot;

2)    The ballot heading reads "official ballot" in bold plain-faced letters with a heavy rule above and below the heading;

3)    Below the heading the type of election and date of election shall be printed with the name of the county and state in which the election is held;

4)    The name or number of the election precinct shall be placed on the ballot in a uniform location; and

5)    No other information shall be placed in the heading of any ballot (A.R.S. § 16-502).

(Sec. 1)

2.    Mandates that all ballots for voting only federal offices shall be tabulated and retained separately from the remainder of the ballots for that election. (Sec. 2)
