Overview

Declares the support of the Arizona House of Representatives for the electoral college.

History

The electoral college was established in Article II, Section 1 of the US Constitution which was ratified on June 21, 1788. The electoral college is the process that elects the President and Vice President of the United States. The electoral college consists of 538 electors, a presidential candidate is required to obtain a majority of 270 electoral votes to win the election. Each state receives the same number of electoral votes as the number of congressional representatives the state has in Congress plus its two senators. Each candidate running for president in a state has their own group of electors, state laws vary on how the electors are selected and what their responsibilities are (www.archives.gov, www.history.house.gov).

1.    States that Members of the House of Representatives support the electoral college and oppose any efforts to repeal or replace it.
