SB 1349: appropriation; students with disabilities

Overview

Appropriates $1,000,000 from the state General Fund (GF) in FY 2021 to the Arizona Department of Health Services (DHS) for grants to statewide organizations that promote programs for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

History

DHS is responsible for promoting and protecting the health of Arizona's children and adults and operates programs in: 1) disease prevention and control; 2) health promotion; 3) community public health; 4) environmental health; 5) maternal and child health; 6) emergency preparedness; and 7) regulation of childcare centers, assisted living centers, nursing homes, hospitals, other health care providers and emergency services.

Provisions

(Sec. 1)

2.    Specifies that the appropriated monies may only be spent:

a)    When the organization collects matching monies of gifts, grants and donations from sources other than the state; and

b)    On outreach efforts, materials and costs associated with the programs. (Sec. 1)

3.    Exempts DHS from procurement code requirements for the purposes of this act. (Sec. 1)
