Overview
Continues the Governor's Archaeology Advisory Commission (GAAC) for three years and directs this agency to advise the State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) on developing a streamlined survey for rangeland improvement projects.
History
The SHPO works in cooperation with federal and state agencies to conduct statewide surveys of historic properties, burial sites and private cemeteries and maintains inventories of areas. This officer also advises, assists and monitors federal and state agencies in historic preservation responsibilities and ensures that historic properties are considered during planning and development. Finally, the SHPO identifies and nominates properties to both the national and Arizona register of historic places (A.R.S. § 41-511.04).

4) Fostering the study of Arizona's archaeology; and
5) Archaeological activities and issues within Arizona (A.R.S. § 41-847).
