FACT SHEET FOR S.B. 1086

 

DHS; long-term care facility surveyors

Purpose

            Appropriates $3,300,000 and 44 full-time equivalent (FTE) positions in FY 2021 from the state General Fund to the Arizona Department of Health Services (DHS) to hire additional
long-term care facility surveyors.

Background

            DHS is responsible for the licensure, regulation and inspection of health care institutions in Arizona, including long-term care facilities. Health care institutions include every place, institution, building and agency, whether organized for profit or not, that provides facilities with medical services, nursing services, behavioral health services, health screening services, other health-related services, supervisory care services, personal care services or direct care services and includes home health agencies, outdoor behavioral health care programs and hospice service agencies (A.R.S. § 36-401).

            S.B. 1086 appropriates $3,300,000 and 44 FTE positions in FY 2021 from the state General Fund to DHS to hire additional long-term care facility surveyors.

Provisions

1.      Appropriates $3,300,000 and 44 FTE positions in FY 2021 from the state General Fund to DHS to hire additional long-term care facility surveyors.

2.      Becomes effective on the general effective date.
