ARIZONA STATE SENATE

Purpose
Establishes November 7 of each year as Victims of Communism Memorial Day.
Background
Statute outlines 16 legal holidays, including Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Veterans Day. Public offices and courts are closed on legal holidays, except for certain authorized purposes. Statute also lists several other non-legal holidays, including Korean War Veterans' Day, Dr. Cesar Estrada Chavez Day and Prisoners of War Remembrance Day (A.R.S. Title 1, Chapter 3, Article 1).
There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this legislation.
Provisions
1. Establishes November 7 of each year as Victims of Communism Memorial Day.
2. Specifies that Victims of Communism Memorial Day is not a legal holiday.
3. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
