hardrock mining industry; recognition
Purpose
Recognizes the importance of the hardrock mining industry to the state's economy.
Background
The Arizona State Constitution established the Office of the State Mine Inspector to oversee mining operations in the state. The Mine Inspector is charged with overseeing the operation and equipment of all mines in the state and providing for the health and safety of mine workers as outlined by statute (Ariz. Const. art. 19 § 0).
There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this legislation.
Provisions
1. Resolves that the Legislature recognizes the importance of hardrock mining to Arizona's economy and supports the involvement of the mining industry in future regulatory changes to ensure safe and productive mining.
2. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
